MAFCO Football Club have restructured their technical department as they battle to stay in the FDH Bank Premiership.

The military side sit 14th, in the relegation zone, with only 13 points from 15 games. Fellow military outfit Kamuzu Barracks are 15th with 12 points from 15, while Creck Sporting Club are bottom with 10 from the same number of games.

An official club communication said Head Coach Temwa Msuku and Technical Director Stereo Gondwe have been deployed to other duties within the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) after a comprehensive review of the team's strategic direction.

Ted Kalinda has been named the new head coach, supported by new assistant coach Blessings Kawanga.

"In line with the club's vision for growth and renewed competitiveness, management is pleased to announce the appointment of Ted Kalinda as the new Head Coach," the communication read in part.

"Kalinda brings a wealth of football knowledge and tactical expertise to the helm. He will be ably supported by Blessings Kawanga, who joins the technical setup as Assistant Coach."

A season of sackings

MAFCO are the latest club to change their bench. Several coaches have already lost their jobs in the top flight this season:

Bob Mpinganjira was suspended at Mighty Wanderers but has since been recalled.
