Malawi's national football team were left waiting at Luanda airport for almost two hours after landing in Angola, with no one from the host federation there to meet them.

The Flames touched down at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport at exactly 16:30, only to find nobody from the Angolan Football Federation waiting. After an hour, two officials finally turned up.

They told the Malawi delegation they had believed the plane would land at Luanda's newly opened airport. After apologising, they left.

It took close to two hours in all before another bus was arranged to take the players to their new base, the Skyna Hotel in Luanda.

Football Association of Malawi first vice-president Madalitso Kuyera said the matter would be investigated.

Malawi opposition leaders savage govt's economic record

Malawi's president and his opposition spent the week disagreeing, more or less, about a single number: the price of maize. Peter Mutharika, marking a year back in office, cited its fall from over K100,000 to around K35,000 a bag as proof his "4Fs" agenda — food, fuel, forex, fertiliser — was working. Opposition leader Simplex [...]

Social commentator Onjezani Kenani has publicly praised UDF president Atupele Muluzi for what he describes as a marked shift in political engagement, contrasting Muluzi's relative quiet between 2020 and 2025 with his more active public commentary in the current political cycle. In a Facebook post, Kenani said that during the earlier period, Muluzi "would emerge [...]
